View of Gulf of St Lawrence from south shore at Notre-Dames-des-Neiges, Les Basques RCM, Quebec showing exposed mud flats.
Viewed here from Cape Tormentine, New Brunswick, the Conferederation Bridge spans the Northumberland Straight at the Abegweit Passage between Cape Jourimain, New Brunswick and Port Broder, Prince Edward Island, a distance of 8 miles (12.9 Km).
One thing that Prince Edward Island has a lot of is wind. Sitting in the Gulf of St Lawrence, PEI is exposed to the heavy weather from the North Atlantic, and is investing heavily in wind energy as a result. Indeed there is a major wind research facility at the North Cape, a truly desolate and wind-swept promontory.
